New Vegan Nail Salon Opens in NYC
Ethical manicures are all the rage—complete with cruelty-free polishes, lotions, and treatments—at NYC's new shop "sundays" Studio.
Vegan nail salon “sundays” Studio recently opened inside of department store Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. The salon features a minimalist aesthetic inspired by the Nordic concept of “hygge”—a term that describes warmth, harmony, and good people. All products used in the salon are vegan including lotions, nail polish removers, and its own nail polish formulations—which took an entire year to develop. The polishes are available in 42 colors and are “10-free”—a beauty industry term that indicates a polish does not contain 10 chemicals and toxins common to traditional nail polishes such as parabens, formaldehyde, toluene, and dibutyl phthalate. “When designing our studio, we knew we wanted to create a friendly, peaceful environment that feels like home,” co-founder Amy Ling Lin said. “Our studio is a place where everyone can feel accepted, beautiful, and free to be their authentic selves.” The shop also offers guided meditation during manicures and pedicures, in addition to hand- and foot-soaking treatments using ingredients such as coconut milk, essential oils, and handmade orange peel scrubs.
