Moby Retires from Touring to Focus on Activism

…and to make vegan smoothies every morning after waking up in his own bed.

In a recent interview with media outlet Daily Telegraph, vegan musician Richard Melville Hall (known professionally as Moby) revealed that he will no longer go on tour, and instead plans to focus on other endeavours including continuing to fight for animal rights. “Even sitting backstage for someone else's tour made me never want to go on tour again,” Moby said. “I toured for such a long time. There are so many other things to do in life.” In 2016, Moby partnered with Tony Kanal (the bassist of band No Doubt) to launch annual vegan music festival Circle V in Los Angeles—an event that donates all proceeds to support animal-rights organization Mercy For Animals. The musician revealed that in the future, he plans "to stay home and to go hiking, and have dinner with my friends, and to work on politics and activism and music, and sleep in my own bed and wake up every morning and make a smoothie.” Most recently, Moby partnered with digital marketplace Reverb.com to sell 100 pieces of his personal musical instruments and equipment to benefit plant-based medical group Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. "None of that is lucrative,” Moby said. “But it's so much more satisfying.”
