Vegan Taco Face-Off Hits Los Angeles This Weekend
LA's Best Vegan Taco Competition pits the city's best vegan chefs against each other to raise funds for earthquake relief in Mexico.
The second annual LA’s Best Vegan Taco Competition takes place Saturday in Los Angeles. The contest—presented by event organizers Eat Drink Vegan in partnership with vegan eatery Café Gratitude—will feature creations from Charly Garcia of Tulum, Mexico’s Charly's Vegan Tacos, Miguel Gutiérrez of Gracias Madre, and Aurelio and Luisa Osorno-Flores of pop-up Tacos Sin Karma. “At this time in history," Taco Competition founder Ryland Engelhart tells VegNews, "with so many global challenges and catastrophes upon us, I thought this could be a small way to show our support for our brothers and sisters to the south.” The event takes place at the Larchmont location of Café Gratitude, and all proceeds raised will go to Ambulante, an organization helping to rebuild schools, homes, and hospitals destroyed by the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that struck Mexico last month.
