Punk Band Anti-Flag Cooks Vegan Thanksgiving Live

Musicians Chris No. 2 and Justin Sane cook Brussels sprouts, cornbread-stuffed acorn squash, and balsamic-glazed carrots in a new video made to promote kindness to animals.

Musicians Chris Barker (known as Chris No. 2) and Justin Sane of punk band Anti-Flag released a new video this week wherein they cook an all-vegan Thanksgiving. In the video—made in partnership with peta2, the youth division of animal-rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)—the duo, along with chef Roberto Martin, prepare holiday dishes such as Brussels sprouts with shiitake "bacon," balsamic-glazed carrots, wild-mushroom gravy, and gluten-free cornbread- and mushroom-stuffed acorn squash. “[W]e always enjoy being together with our family and friends,” Barker said, “even if some of them don't see eye to eye with us on our political stances or maybe the way we eat." The musicians created the video to inspire viewers to eat more plant-based food for Thanksgiving and beyond. "We do live in a society where we have an economic system that celebrates excess," Sane said. "But one way that we can turn that around and bring something positive to it is when you think about what you're putting in your body, when you think about what you're going to eat: whether you're going to hurt an animal or whether you're going to get outside of that world.”
