Vegan Cycles Across India to Promote Animal Rights

Rohit Ingle will bike across more than 12,000 miles in India to promote the vegan message.

Vegan cyclist Rohit Ingle recently embarked on a 19,000-kilometer (approximately 12,000 miles) journey across India to promote compassion for animals. The cyclist—who adopted a vegan lifestyle two years ago—was inspired by Australian animal-activist James Aspey to take the challenge as a way to inspire Indian citizens to live a more compassionate lifestyle. “It’s easy when you listen to your heart, not your habits,” Ingle told media outlet Ahmedabad Mirror. Ingle discussed his journey in various cities along the route and revealed that many people with whom he spoke shared their journeys toward a more compassionate lifestyle. “During an awareness meet in Vadodara,” Ingle said, “I met a guy and spoke to him about turning vegan in stages and giving the body time to adjust. Gradually, eliminate meat, dairy products, and then all animal products over many weeks, while adopting alternatives. We talked for over 30 minutes, and he was convinced to turn vegan. Such things make me more determined to pursue the campaign.” Earlier this year, vegan Disney star Dan Richardson kayaked for 21 miles across the to raise money for animal-rights.
