Plant-Based Show The Big Fat Truth Premieres in June

The Biggest Loser producer JD Roth's new project will debut on wellness channel Z Living to educate viewers about the long-term benefits of a healthy mind and a plant-based diet.

New weight-loss series The Big Fat Truth will premiere on June 13 on wellness network Z Living. Award-winning producer JD Roth—known for his hit show The Biggest Loser—created the show after learning about the benefits of a plant-based diet from vegan doctor Michael Greger. Each episode will feature different groups of people—such as night nurses, type 2 diabetics, and former Biggest Loser contestants—who will be challenged to eat a strictly whole foods, plant-based diet for the first 10 days of their 90-day journey to sustainable wellness. The show will promote plant-based foods as “Foodicine”—a term created by the show producers to describe the idea of food as medicine. “Over the years, I’ve learned what I’ve done right and what I’ve done wrong,” Roth told VegNews last year. “I can no longer support a lifestyle with animal products, knowing what I know.”
