Vegan Documentary What the Health Hits Netflix Today

From the producers of Cowspiracy, the vegan documentary uncovers the link between disease and animal consumption.

New documentary What the Health debuts on Netflix today. In the new documentary, the film’s creators—Kip Andersen and Keegan Kuhn, the duo behind wildly popular environmental documentary Cowspiracy—set out to explore the connection between disease, the consumption of animal products, and the pharmaceutical industry that benefits from the American epidemics of heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. The film features several doctors such as Michael Greger, MD, Neal Barnard, MD, and Kim A. Williams, MD, who advocate for a plant-based diet for optimal health. Andersen and Kuhn debuted the film for a limited time online in March, and donated 50 percent of sales to nonprofit Food Not Bombs to support its efforts in providing plant-based foods to those in need. In addition to What the Health, another animal-rights themed film, Okja—starring Tilda Swinton—explores the ethical side of raising animals for slaughter, and is scheduled to debut on Netflix on June 28.
