Starbucks Launches New Vegan Jackfruit Lunch Wrap
The coffeehouse giant continues to expand its vegan options in 2018 with the launch of several menu items across Europe.
Starbucks announced the launch of several vegan options in its locations across Europe. The BBQ Vegan Wrap with Jackfruit and Slaw features a whole wheat seeded wrap filled with carrot and sweet corn purée, jackfruit, spinach, and slaw, while the Vegan Dark Chocolate and Hazelnut Bar is a blend of cocoa and hazelnut topped with nuts and edamame. For breakfast, Starbucks added the Vegan Five Grain Oatmeal Pot, an oat porridge made with coconut cream and soy milk, golden linseeds, and red and wild rice, spiced with cinnamon. As part of its 2018 menu update, Starbucks also added oat milk to its menus in the United Kingdom last week. Stateside, the coffeehouse giant debuted its first vegan-certified lunch option—the Vegan Lentils & Vegetables Protein Bowl with Brown Rice—in July. The new vegan menu additions are part of Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson’s initiative to increase the company’s sales by developing plant-based options. The company will launch plant-based versions of its iconic bottled Frappuccinos, in vanilla and mocha flavors, across the United States this spring.
