Boston Celtics' Kyrie Irving Adopts Plant-Based Diet

The professional basketball player reveals he is moving away from animal products this season to fuel his performance.

NBA player Kyrie Irving of the Boston Celtics revealed last week that he has adopted a plant-based diet. The star player explained his dietary shift to Chauncey Billups during a recent ESPN postgame show—after the Celtics beat the Charlotte Hornets 108 to 100. “Well, this season, [I am following] more of a plant-based diet,” Irving said. “Getting away from the animals and all that, I had to get away from that. So my energy is up, my body feels amazing.” Irving joins a growing number of professional athletes—including fellow NBA players Jahlil Okafor, Damian Lillard, and Wilson Chandler—to recently adopt an animal-free diet for optimal performance.
