Animal Sanctuary in Mississippi Gets a Facelift

Newly reimagined Hope Animal Sanctuary features 20 tiny houses that serve as comfortable habitats for rescued animals.

Animal-rights organization In Defense of Animals (IDA) unveiled new structures at Hope Animal Sanctuary in Mississippi on May 12. The new state-of-the-art sanctuary operates in Carroll County, an area in the Deep South that has long been devoid of animal shelters along with other animal services. “This is a place where we will educate new guardians and engender respect for animals in future generations,” IDA President Marilyn Kroplick said. IDA invested $650,000 to modernise Hope Animal Sanctuary’s operations center which temporarily houses animals such as cats, dogs, pigs, and horses with the mission of placing them into long-term care. The sanctuary now includes a calming cattery, veterinary rooms, a visitors’ welcome and education center, and 20 tiny houses created as comfortable habitats for dogs and cats.“ [IDA] is very proud of our work here,” Kroplick said. “We are even more proud that we can now give the Deep South’s most abused animals the loving care they deserve in a modern sanctuary.”
