Vegan Disney Star Kayaks English Channel for Animals

Disney Channel's Dan Richardson teams with vegan personal trainer Annie Robertson-Connolly to kayak 21 miles across the English Channel to raise money for stray dogs.

Vegan actor Dan Richardson—known for his role as Gil on hit Disney Channel series The Lodge—will kayak across the English Channel to raise funds for animal-welfare organization International Aid for the Protection and Welfare of Animals (IAPWA). Richardson will embark on the journey—that involves kayaking 21 miles to Brighton, then bicycling 60 miles to London—with fellow vegan and personal trainer Annie Robertson-Connolly on September 2 with the aim of raising nearly $40,000 to help IAPWA fund the neutering of stray dogs in Romania. “I couldn’t live with myself knowing that such suffering is happening and not try and do something to help make a difference,” Richardson explained. Earlier this summer, vegan cyclist Jackson Long announced that he would bicycle across Europe to raise funds for animal-rights organization Mercy For Animals—which has been instrumental in producing undercover footage to document farmed-animal abuse across the United States.
