PDX Eateries Combine to Form Vegan Hotspot
Beloved A.N.D. Café joins sister restaurant Off the Griddle to create the ultimate vegan-friendly brunch, lunch, and dinner spot in Portland, OR.
Two Portland-based vegan-friendly eateries—veggie burger spot Off the Griddle and sister brunch spot A.N.D Café—will combine forces this July. The café will move into Off the Griddle’s (OTG) larger space (complete with outdoor seating), which owners Ashley Arthur and Dan Harding say will expedite wait times and allow for the creation of new vegan menu items with the help of OTG’s larger commercial kitchen. “Uninhibited by the constraints of a small kitchen, we’ll be able to manifest a much wider variety of the specials that the café has come to be known for,” Harding said. The new brunch menu will feature many dishes from A.N.D.’s former location—such as wide array of vegan waffles that can be topped with Coconut Bliss vanilla ice cream—and include new vegan additions such as house-made chicken ’n’ waffles and a corned beef hash. Portland has had a resurgence of its already popular vegan scene, with newly opened eateries such as Canadian import Virtuous Pie (a two-story vegan pizza shop) and punk cafe Jet Black Coffee—which sits adjacent to the second location of thriving vegan grocery store Food FIght!. Off the Griddle and A.n.D. will kick off their union with a brunch on July 6.
