Daytona Fans Will Be Treated to Free Vegan Food

Vegan race car debut to be paired with a free plant-based food giveaway thanks to vegan driver Leilani Münter's efforts to bring cruelty-free awareness to racing fans.

Free vegan food will be served to race fans at the Daytona International Speedway from February 18 until February 26. This project is part of vegan racecar driver Leilani Münter’s two-pronged approach to introducing fans to veganism during the 2017 season. In January, Münter announced that she would debut the world’s first vegan-themed car at Daytona, with plans to erect a food tent at the event. After several months of fundraising for the food tent, Münter said the campaign was falling short. However, Münter revealed via a Facebook video vegan activist Katie Cleary pledged that animal-rights organizations World Animal News and Peace 4 Animals would donate enough money to make up for the difference. Additional funding was provided by Münter’s sponsor A Well Fed World and animal-rights group Mercy for Animals. “Once people try vegan food and see how amazing it is,” Münter said, “and realize they are not giving up any of the flavors or the kinds of meals that they grew up with, I think we can open a lot of minds.” Münter will be driving the number 15 car at the American Racing Car Association (ARCA) series opener at the Daytona International Speedway, which will be televised on Fox Sports 1 at 4pm EST on February 18.
