Vegan cat café VegaBoo Cat Haven opened last week in Saskatchewan, Canada—the province’s first establishment of its kind. The café—the name of which is a combination of the word “vegan” and the owner’s cat’s name “Boo”—is split into two sections: one filled with adoptable cats and another serving vegan food and beverages. “I’m really passionate about vegan cooking, and my mom is also really passionate about animals,” owner Alex Baylak told Canadian media outlet CBC, “so we kind of combined our two passions together.” VegaBoo’s menu includes vegan milkshakes, kombucha, entrées, and sweet treats. The purpose of the café is to attract good human guardians for their adoptable cats, and VegaBoo has already found forever homes for two of the six feline residents since opening last week. Stateside, Los Angeles-based The CatCafe Lounge will soon open with an array of vegan snacks and adoptable cats.
