Vegan Faux Fur Pop-Up Lands in NYC for Holidays

House of Fluff will sell its fashionable animal-free furs, colored with natural dyes such as berries, until Christmas.

Upscale fashion brand House of Fluff opened its pop-up shop last week in New York City. The shop sells a collection of vegan faux furs, sweatshirts, and outerwear made from 100-percent upcycled materials. “After 20 years of working as a magazine editor, stylist, and creative director,” House of Fluff CEO Kym Canter said, “I realized what I really wanted to do was build a fun, ethical, affordable fashion brand inspired by my love of luxury and everything plush.” Canter sold her 26 remaining furs to fund the venture, vowing to never again harm an animal or the environment in the name of fashion. The company uses only natural dyes such as plant bark, berries, and foraged flowers to create colorful faux fur pieces. Design Director Alex Dymek spent 15 years creating outerwear for brand J. Mendel and for friends in the drag scene. “I have often heard that my superpower is that I can take a scrap off the floor and turn into something of great desire,” Dymek said. “My new plan is to do just that, create the sickest and chicest ethical products on the planet from cruelty-free sustainable materials.” The House of Fluff pop-up will be operational until December 24, but its collection is also available for purchase online.
