Vegan Fish Sauce

Fish sauce, known as “nuoc mam” in Vietnam, is traditionally used to flavor numerous Vietnamese dishes, often rendering otherwise vegetarian dishes off limits. This vegetarian version is the solution.

Makes 1 cup

What You Need:

  • 3/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

What You Do:

  1. Combine the ingredients in a small jar with a tight-fitting lid. Shake until well blended. Store in the refrigerator.
