Katie Holmes’ Vegan Character

New film stars Katie Holmes as a vegan.

In the new film The Extra Man, Katie Holmes plays a strict vegan. Her character, Mary Powell, is a vegan and an environmentalist who works at an eco magazine. Louis Ives, played by Paul Dano, is a meat-eater who falls for Holmes’ character, and the difference of interests comes between them. “She’s a very modern character—she works at an environmental magazine, and obviously audiences very much associate her with contemporary culture,” said filmmaker Robert Pulcini. Holmes’ character in the film represents the ever-growing presence of veganism in modern culture.
