Avid volunteer and high school graduate Kyana Jones was awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the Vegetarian Resource Group.

Shorecrest High School graduate Kyana Jones was awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the Vegetarian Resource Group for her dedication to a vegan lifestyle. The vegan and 2012 grad plans to pursue a career in environmental science and is a dedicated activist and volunteer. Jones is the founder and president of Shorecrest’s animal-rights club, and conducts outreach with the Seattle Animal Defense League, the Northwest Animal Rights Network, Action for Animals, and the Humane Society of the United States. As an HSUS intern, Jones gathered more than 10,000 signatures for one of the nonprofit’s initiatives—more than any volunteer in the history of the organization.
