Colbert Blasts King Over Dog Fight Comments

Host and comedian Stephen Colbert mocked Iowa Congressman Steve King’s comments about dog fighting.

On the August 7 episode of The Colbert Report, host and comedian Stephen Colbert admonished Congressman Steve King of Iowa for his comments about dog fighting. The Congressman is taking heat for his vote against an amendment to the Farm Bill, which would make it a federal crime to attend or bring a child to an animal fight. In a recent online video, King said, “It is a federal crime to watch animals fight … but it’s not a crime to watch people fighting, there is something wrong with the priorities of people who think like that. It’s wrong to rate animals above human beings.” Colbert ridiculed King’s logic, sarcastically retorting, “He was savaged by the ‘we don’t enjoy watching animals being tortured for our own amusement’ brigade over at the Humane Society.”
