BabyCakes Bakery Launches New Smartphone App

The all-vegan New York City-based bakery’s new app offers recipes, baking tips, and original music.

Famous New York City-based vegan bakery BabyCakes has launched an app for Apple’s iPhone and iPad. The bright and engaging visual smorgasbord includes recipes from owner Erin McKenna’s first two cookbooks, BabyCakes and BabyCakes Covers the Classics, as well as a video-based art project and soundtrack, all rolled into one. Along with recipes for doughnuts, waffles, and cupcakes, the app is also a bake-along with pseudo-celebrity personalities including Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipka, New York Times columnist Mark Bittman, and Momofuku chef Christina Tosi. In addition, it features music by Cults, Bleached, and Bubbles, as well as an original BabyCakes theme song by J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. The trendy app also features exclusive recipes for pretzel and sandwich breads that have yet to debut at the Manhattan storefront.
