Musicians Giving Cover Album Sales to Sanctuary

A tribute record to The Mountain Goats is giving all proceeds to benefit rescued farm animals.

Folk-rock band The Mountain Goats is using its newest cover album to raise funds for farm animal protection organization Farm Sanctuary, based in California and New York. The album, Tallahassee Turns Ten, was released on November 5 and is currently selling for $8, or $20 for a limited-edition cassette version. The album, consisting of 15 tracks, features a variety of songs written by The Mountain Goats member John Darnielle and performed by independent artists such as Andrew Jackson Jihad, Hallelujah the Hills, Miracles of Modern Science, and Jeffrey Lewis. In a similar act of charity, vegan Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen auctioned his guitar and donated the proceeds to benefit holistic cancer therapy at the Gerson Institute this past September.
