Meat Consumption Hinders Women’s Fertility

A new study reveals that certain chemicals found in meat reduce likelihood of becoming pregnant.

The National Institutes of Health recently reported that certain pesticides and industrial chemicals found in meat fat reduce fertility rates in women. Director of the division of Epidemiology, Statistics, and Prevention Research at Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Germaine Buck Louis says that limiting animal intake, particularly avoiding meat and fish fat, is one way to reduce the chance of exposing the body to these chemicals. “Humans are exposed largely through their diet,” Louis noted. Reproductive specialist Dr. Christine Mullin backs the study, telling US News that the results are “not surprising.”
