Dog Delivers Water and Food to New Yorkers in Need

A rescue dog carries water and food to Hurricane Sandy-affected New York residents.

Seven-year-old Labrador retriever and Hurricane Katrina survivor Midnight is being praised as New York’s latest hero for his dedication to delivering water and food to people in need to the Westbeth—an apartment mostly housing senior citizens, affected by Hurricane Sandy. When the building lost power and water pressure, Midnight was one of the first to help. In the dark, the dog ran up the stairs carrying deliveries for the apartment residents. Westbeth Manager Matthew Russas tells The Huffington Post, “We were very appreciative of all the volunteers—canine or human—that helped our residents, especially elderly residents during this difficult time.”
