New Poll Shows Democrats View Vegans Favorably

A polling company releases results detailing the contrasting views Democrats and Republicans have on food.

North Carolina-based polling company Public Policy Polling recently released the results for the organization’s first nation-wide questionnaire on food. Conducted over the phone, the company interviewed 500 registered US voters over the course of four days. Among the nearly 33 pages of responses was the result that Democrats viewed vegans in a positive light: 48 percent versus 22 percent, while Republicans thought of plant-based living negatively. Political parties aside, 13 percent of the folks surveyed considered themselves veg––with six percent claiming vegetarianism and seven percent of the 13 declaring veganism. Of the 500 participants, overall, 49 percent viewed vegetarians favorably while 38 percent viewed vegans positively.
