College Senior Creates Veg-Friendly Lipstick Line

Lip Conscious is the product of a fashion-savvy college co-ed’s entrepreneurial aspirations and cruelty-free ethics.

Teonna Flipping, a senior at Iowa State University, combines a compassionate outlook and bold fashion sense with the creation of her cosmetics line, Lip Conscious. The speech communications major and former InStyle beauty intern wanted to infuse her vegan family’s cruelty-free ethics with her entrepreneurial proclivities. The spark of inspiration came when she found instructions online on how to make lipstick using crayon. From there, she embarked on a quest of trial and error, and eventually arrived at the right formula in a line of eccentric tones. “The colors are bold; they’re vibrant, and they make statements.” Flipping says to the Iowa State Daily. “It’s for the bold and for the unapologetic—that’s what I love about it.”
