In light of the US ag-gag legislation battle, footage from an Australian slaughterhouse shows the importance of undercover investigations everywhere. A recently released video of an Inghams turkey plant aired by ABC shows workers abusing the animals on more than 130 different accounts, kicking them, kneeing them, and throwing them against walls. According to Mercy For Animals, the footage was anonymously given to Australian animal-welfare group Animal Liberation, and authorities are currently investigating the slaughterhouse. While the video is shocking, it’s just the latest in a long line of animal abuse scandals in America and abroad that have included companies Butterball and House of Raeford Farms.
