Vegan Egg Company Receives $1 Million in Funding

Founders Fund chose to back Hampton Creek Foods as its first culinary startup investment.

Co-founder of Paypal Peter Thiel’s venture capitalist group, Founders Fund, recently invested $1 million in Hampton Creek Foods, the food firm that is working to replace eggs with a fully plant-based product, reports Tech Crunch. Founders Fund aims to fund companies with innovative, ambitious missions. Hampton Creek Foods and its inaugural product Beyond Eggs made headlines in Businessweek and Vice's Motherboard earlier this year when it received funding from other venture capitalists such as Khosla Ventures that invested $2 million into the food-tech company.
