Their Story: “Slow and steady” just may be the motto to Jenny and Scott’s partnership. They met through the Seattle trail running scene in 2001, knew each other for eight years before they got together, and dated for another three before they opted to tie the knot. Says Jenny, “We’ve helped each other grow, as friends do, until one day something changed. I think it was the timing; we were both in exciting places in our lives, or maybe it was celestial reckoning, but somehow we started to see each other in a different light.”

The Big Day: Jenny and Scott’s aim was for the ceremony to be as natural as possible, so they created an aisle in the forest with fallen branches and pinecones and provided colorful blankets for guests to sit on. The only exception was an upright piano that they brought to the outdoor site so that Jenny’s friend Caroline could play Jenny’s favorite song from Amélie while she walked down the aisle. After the ceremony, the pair’s pal Brett Dennen played an acoustic version of his original song “She’s Mine.” The party then moved to the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art for an array of desserts, music, and more merrymaking.
