Cowspiracy Doctor to Dispel Vegan Myths in New Mexico

Former zen monk Will Tuttle will speak this weekend in Santa Fe.

On Sunday, Will Tuttle—author of The World Peace Diet and featured expert in the documentary Cowspiracy—is scheduled to speak about veganism in front of New Mexico’s Santa Fe Veg group. Tuttle, who believes “animal agriculture is a war on nature,” will discuss how athletes such as ultramarathoner Scott Jurek and bodybuilder Barny DuPlessis break the “vegans are weak” stereotype while dispelling the myth that vegan diets are expensive. Tuttle also plans to explain how vegans can easily live on $4 per day while exposing the hidden costs of eating meat. “Each American taxpayer pays $1,000 a year in subsidies to the meat and dairy industries,” Tuttle told local newspaper Santa Fe Reporter. Those subsidies, he says, “fill the pockets of the ruling elite.” According to the paper, veganism in New Mexico is rising, with Tuttle’s lecture expected to reach a wider audience than the group’s 480 current members.
