To “set the record straight,” the chart refutes the myth that vegans lack protein by calculating the grams of protein consumed during a standard day of vegan meals, showing that it exceeds the recommended daily amount for both men and women. To address the claim that vegan diets are unhealthy, the infographic cites several studies showing that vegans have lower cholesterol, BMI, and triglyceride levels, which in elevated levels may lead to heart disease. To debunk the misconception that the vegan diet is expensive, the chart used the tool LearnVest to calculate the average price of food per day for a meat eater ($14.65) versus a vegan ($11.15). While these facts may be common knowledge to those already living a vegan lifestyle, this infographic is a simple visual tool that can be used to factually combat common arguments against veganism.
