365 by Whole Foods, the new chain of grocery stores developed by Whole Foods Market to be millennial-focused and more affordable, has announced a full roster of 13 cities where it plans to open locations through 2017. In addition to the Los Angeles, Bellevue, WA, and Lake Oswego, OR, outposts slated for opening by this summer’s end, next year will see stores in Santa Monica, CA; Houston; Cedar Park, TX; Cincinnati, OH; San Francisco; Concord, CA; Evergreen Park, IL; Gainesville, FL; Claremont, CA; and Los Alamitos, CA. One way the new chain of stores will differentiate itself from its parent company is its “Friends of 365” program, which offers partnerships with existing local businesses to set up shop in the new grocery concept. The first 365 location to open in Los Angeles’ Silver Lake neighborhood on May 25 will feature a full dine-in by CHLOE restaurant, and it was also recently reported that the Portland, OR-area Lake Oswego location will partner with two vegan companies—Next Level Burger, a “100% plant-based burger joint,” and Canteen, a café and juice bar specializing in breakfast options, bowls, organic juices, kombucha, beer, craft soda, and more. 365 by Whole Foods stores will also appeal to customers by featuring loyalty programs, dietary restriction-specific coupons and punch cards, ample “hangout” areas, all-digital price tags, and express checkout stations throughout the store for quick trips.
