Vegan Company Caters Elon Musk’s Millionaire Event

Vegan company Impossible Foods catered the recent Code Conference event hosted by innovator and Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk. On the menu were meatless sliders on a pretzel bun with mashed avocado, tomato, lettuce, carmelized onions, Just Mayo-based mustard-mayonnaise, and cornichon pickles. Media outlet Buzzfeed reported that Musk spoke to a curated crowd of forward-thinkers, while guest speakers included Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, and Bill Gates—an early investor in Impossible Foods. The event was held at an exclusive oceanfront resort in California and covered topics such as the future of artificial intelligence, space travel to Mars, women’s access to contraception, and the Black Lives Matter movement. Attendees are thought of by many as leaders in future innovation, so serving Impossible Foods’ burger—which, after sampling, Momofuku restaurant mogul David Chang exclaimed, “I have tasted the future, and it was vegan”—was fitting.
