The North American Vegetarian Society (NAVS) recently inducted award-winning vegan chef Miyoko Schinner into its Vegetarian Hall of Fame. Maribeth Abrams, who is on NAVS’s Board of Directors, said the organization chose the entrepreneur, cookbook author, and TV show co-hostess because “her food has changed so many people’s lives, and she is an inspiring example of someone who created a successful plant-based company while following her heart.” Schinner is the first food manufacturer to be named a Vegetarian Hall of Famer. She said she was “surprised and delighted” to receive the honor, especially because “there are so many incredible vegetarian advocates.” She continued, “My way of promoting veganism and saving animals is through a food business, and it’s wonderful that NAVS recognized the value of this because it’s something that many people could also choose to do.”
