Tyson Foods Inc., the world’s largest meat processor and marketer, fired two employees last week after fellow workers caught them on video mishandling chickens at contract farms in Virginia. A county court notified managers of the poultry plant about the video, which resulted in the company taking action. In a statement, Tyson said, “Two of the employees who clearly mishandled birds were terminated immediately,” adding that “other employees are on suspension pending a full investigation.” The video, the company said, showed employees engaging in “poor animal handling” but has not given any further details or released the footage publicly.
