Indiana-based vegan gelato company Mami’s Gelato recently announced the expansion of its product availability to 13 states and the country of Bermuda. Naomi Posner founded the business with her daughters in 2015 with the mission of providing easy-to-use, shelf-stable dry mixes to businesses looking to address their customer demands for dairy-free frozen treats. The company offers several options wholesale, including Froconut—a coconut-based mix that can be loaded into a standard soft serve machine. “I am humbled by the response we’ve gotten so far,” Posner says, “and am grateful for the opportunity to grow our business by continuing to provide the best vegan dessert products possible.” Mami’s plans to expand its offerings to other states in the future and develop new flavors within the existing product line. The company also offers pint-sized coconut cream-based gelato in flavors such as Cookie Butter, Strawberry d’Italia, and Mint Dark Chocolate—which are available for individual consumers to purchase online and in select store locations across Indiana and Kentucky. The popularity of dairy-free desserts have driven many frozen treats shops such as Pinkberry, Menchie’s, and 16 Handles to add vegan options to their menus in recent years.
