Sia Asks Kanye West To Go Fur-Free

The vegan musician takes to Twitter to convince Kanye to drop animal cruelty from his fashion line.

Vegan activist Sia asked fellow musician Kanye West to remove fur from his new fashion line. West debuted his new line at the Yeezy Season 5 fashion show held last week—an event that featured several fur coats and accessories. Sia took to Twitter and posted, “Dear @kanyewest, would you consider going fur free?” Sia followed that up by stating, “This is the reality of fur for fashion—it’s so sad,” linking to a YouTube video entitled “Under the Fur Coats: Rabbits’ Screams of Death,” depicting rabbits being mutilated for their coats. More than 6,000 of Sia’s 2.8 million followers engaged with the post and commented in support of her request, adding that she should also reach out to other musicians who promote fur, including Rihanna and Lady Gaga. Sia has used her fame to promote equality for both animals and humans—evidenced by her recent $100,000 donation to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in support of its efforts to fight the immigration ban issued by the Trump administration last month.
