Acclaimed culinary organization The James Beard Foundation (JBF) will be hosting a vegan dinner at its historic James Beard House in New York on March 24. The event is being organized by Kiki Adami—founder of Veganizer, an organization that helps restaurants across New York add vegan options to their menus. Adami conceived the event during a recent dinner with the vice president of JBF Mitchell Davis and winemaker Sebastiano Cossia Castiglioni—who will be providing organic vegan wine. The dinner will feature chefs Chloe Coscarelli, Jay Astafa, Daphne Cheng, and Adam Sobel who will prepare dishes such as smoked and charred cauliflower stalks, beet lasagna with beet–basil ricotta, and chocolate–earl grey meringue accompanied by vegan champagne by Duval-Leroy. According to media outlet Latest Vegan News, the event sold out in 48 hours after it was announced. Veganism is penetrating the upper echelon of the culinary world, with plant-based dishes being featured on recent menus at prestigious events such as the Oscars after-party and the British Academy of Television and Arts award ceremony.
