Vegan actor Michael Dorn—known for his portrayal of meat-loving Klingon Lieutenant Worf on popular series Star Trek: The Next Generation—will be a featured speaker at Michigan’s annual VegFest today. Dorn announced his decision to go vegan on social media platform Twitter in 2015 stating, “Unlike my most famous role, I’m a vegan in real life.” Along with Dorn, vegan luminaries including Humane Society of the United States CEO Wayne Pacelle, medical doctors Michael Greger, M.D. and Joel Kahn, M.D., and nutritionist Kerrie Saunders will also make an appearance. The event will feature an expansive list of food vendors including GreenSpace Café—Kahn’s all-vegan restaurant that opened in the Ferndale neighborhood in 2015. Festival organizing group VegMichigan estimates that 5,000 people will be in attendance during its 18th annual event.
