Famed musician Jon Bon Jovi recently removed all leather from his clothing line Hart N Dagger. Bon Jovi was prompted to make the decision after animal-rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) petitioned the musician to acknowledge the animal cruelty present in the fashion industry. “Animals are no longer livin’ on a prayer, thanks to Jon Bon Jovi,” PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said. “Every day, PETA hears from shoppers who are looking for vegan-friendly retailers, and Hart N Dagger now fits the bill by agreeing to use only high-quality vegan leather on its denim. And compassionate consumers are applauding the move.” Hart N Dagger will now use vegan leather patches on its jeans and will no longer use animal skins on any other items. PETA sent the musician a box of cow-shaped vegan chocolates to thank him for his compassionate decision. In recent years, vegan leather has become a lucrative sector of the fashion industry and is predicted to be valued at $85 billion by 2025, as people continue to opt for cruelty-free materials.
