Vegan Senator Cory Booker Launches Podcast

New Jersey Senator Cory Booker launched the “Lift Every Voice” podcast on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Booker created the podcast to highlight overlooked issues of social justice and will interview activists across the country working to bring positive change to their communities. The first episode featured US Representative John Lewis—an activist who worked alongside Martin Luther King, Jr. during the Civil Rights Era. “Dr. King would have turned 89 years old today,” Booker said. “I’m excited to always recognize his birthday and try to make sure it’s not just a time of recognition but a time that we are fulfilling his mission and his mandate, which is still real today. The best way to show gratitude is not with words but with actions.” Booker has used his political platform to defend both human and animal rights—and responded to a rumor that he would be Hillary Clinton’s running mate for VP (Vice President) in 2016 by tweeting, “I am already a vegan person.”
