Popular pizza chain Pizza Express added its first fully vegan menu items to its new Sai Ying Pun location in Hong Kong earlier this month. Diners can now order three vegan pizzas featuring vegan brand Daiya Foods’ cheese: Cavole Verde topped with kale and black garlic; truffle-infused Trifolata featuring wild mushrooms and rosemary; and Giardiniera with asparagus, roasted pumpkin, and basil pesto. With more than 500 outlets around the world, Pizza Express is focusing its efforts on sustainability. Its summer “Food for Thought” menu features more than 20 new vegetable-focused and responsibly sourced dishes, featuring products from companies such as Beyond Meat. In addition to incorporating more sustainable foods, the campaign extends to initiatives such as installing recycling bins at its restaurants for guests to donate unwanted clothes and non-perishable foods. Pizza Express is the latest company to make plant-based foods more accessible for those in Hong Kong. Last month, vegan brand Right Treat announced the launch of its vegan meat alternative called Omnipork and the Impossible Burger debuted at three Hong Kong-based restaurants.
