Snickerdoodles

These cookies really do have sugar, spice, and everything nice.

By Beverly Lynn Bennett

These cinnamon and sugar classic cookies are guaranteed to fly off the plate faster than they can cool. Enjoy their spiced sweetness with a tall glass of your favorite dairy-free milk.

Makes 4-5 Dozen

What You Need:

  • 1 recipe All-In-One Sugar Cookie Dough (See VegNews recipe)
  • 2 tablespoons unbleached cane sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon

What You Do:

  1. Prepare cookie dough according to recipe instructions, but substitute 6 tablespoons soymilk for the water in the recipe, cover, and chill 1 hour. In a small bowl, stir together the sugar and cinnamon. Roll the chilled dough into 1-inch balls, then roll each ball in the sugar mixture, place on ungreased cookie sheets, and flatten each ball slightly.
  2. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned on the bottom. Allow the cookies to cool slightly before transferring to a rack to cool completely. Store in an air-tight container.

No cream of tartar? I don't think you know what snickerdoodles are.

I agree w/Joseph. They're not snickerdoodles without cream of tartar, they're just sugar cookies rolled in cinnamon-sugar. Still tasty, but not a snickerdoodle.
