In a recent Metro UK story, vegan blogger Sean O’Callaghan—also known as the Fat Gay Vegan—showed his support for vegan schools. The former primary school teacher explained how a plant-based menu teaches students true sustainability at school while promoting inclusiveness and health. “What a vegan school does is create a safer space for children where they will learn compassion, grow stronger, and be respected without fear of being excluded based on personal choice, religious practice, or allergy considerations,” O’Callaghan said. A California school called MUSE began phasing out animal products from its menu in June 2014, and has been 100 percent vegan for two months. “Children of all ages and in all settings are constantly asked to consider how their actions affect those around them,” he said. “Why not take this approach and apply it to the food the children are served every single day?”
