Berkeley, CA-based vegan bakery Cinnaholic will open a franchise location in Lancaster, PA this July. Franchisee Veronica Risser will operate the 1,400 square-foot shop in the Granite Run Square shopping center and offer customizable vegan cinnamon rolls with more than 25 glazes and toppings such as mini marshmallow, chai frosting, and dark chocolate sauce. The shop will also serve cookies, brownies, fudge, cakes, and coffee-based beverages, all made without animal products. In 2016, Cinnaholic sold more than 300,000 vegan cinnamon rolls in its 13 franchise locations in California, Nevada, Texas, and Georgia. The company’s co-founder Shannon Radke hopes to franchise 41 more locations by the end of the year. The Pennsylvania location is particularly interesting as the county has recently experienced a sharp downturn in local dairy production, a sign that consumers are shifting toward plant-based foods.
