Associate Editor
Are you an editor with exceptional writing and editing skills? Would you like to work for a socially conscious, progressive, San Francisco-based business? We're seeking a full-time Associate Editor at our Ocean Beach offices. The successful candidate must be extremely organized, detail-oriented, personable, and communicative. Candidate should have knowledge of and an interest in promoting a vegetarian lifestyle.
Primary Responsibilities:
~ Work with Managing Editor on editorial for VegNews Magazine, VegNews.com, e-newsletters, and blogs
~ Write headlines, deks, and captions
~ Field inquiries
~ Develop and present story ideas
~ Research, write, and copy edit stories
~ Attend events and publishing conferences
~ Plan, attend, and publicize VegNews events
Minimum Requirements:
~ Degree in journalism or English
~ Knowledge of Word and Excel
~ Knowledge of AP Style
~ Strong people skills and the ability to interact positively with staff and writers
~ Strong organizational and time management skills
~ Smart work, enthusiasm, and great ideas
~ Knowledge of vegetarianism a must
~ Willingness to travel occasionally on weekends
This is a full-time position (40 hours/week). Salary depends on experience.
