Jaime Roth & Brett Wyker
June 11, 2006
Setauket, NY
Guests: 85
Wedding Day Highlights: Jaime and Brett were blessed with a good omen while exchanging their vows in a lovely waterfront ceremony on an inlet at Conscience Bay. Much to everyones delight, a giant turtle emerged from the water and stayed to watch the ceremony, and a pair of mallards swam over to check him out. Some would say that was no coincidence. Jaime and Brett went to great lengths to ensure no animals were harmed for their wedding. They sought out a seamstress who could recreate an expensive (silk) dress design in faux silk for a very reasonable price, found a non-wool suit for the groom, and discovered the supplier of vegan ties to New York Citys street vendors. They even tutored their caterer on veg cuisine. Dont discount a regular caterer, Jaime advises. As long as theyre willing and flexible, you can have a great experience.
Their Story: You just never know who might connect you to your future husband. Jaime first met Brett in 1996 at an animal rights conference in Minnesota, where they were introduced by Jaimes then-boyfriend. But it wasnt until a few years later when both were single that the pair met in New York for an actual date. The rest, as they say, is (vegan) history.
