Jessie Sterner & Tim Miller
August 12, 2006
Bethlehem, Penn.
Guests: 95
Wedding Day Highlights: Jessie and Tim wanted a simple and informal vegan wedding that was fun and family oriented. They got that and more while providing guests with an inspiring example of how to throw a sustainable party. They were married on what weather forecasters were calling the most gorgeous day of the summer in Jessies parents backyard, surrounded by family and hummingbirds. Their reception was a casual picnic for 95 in a local park, where frolicking ducks and geese amused the children. Tims talented mother created the recycled postcard wedding invitations, as well as Jessies Hempcel wedding dress and an added surprise gift of a beautiful crocheted hemp yarn wrap. And to keep the green theme going, for their picnic they used biodegradable potato utensils, sugarcane plates, cornstarch cups and trash bags, and 100% recycled napkins. Jessie says the cupcakes from Vegan Treats were a huge hit, with everyone asking about the bakery. Ha! she cheers. Mission accomplished.
Their story: Its been said that if a couple can travel together on long trips without serious friction, they are extremely compatible and their union is likely to thrive. Well, not only do they travel wellfor Jessie and Tim, being together is a picnic! They met while working at a bookstore in the Philadelphia suburbs, but it wasnt until a year later that they found themselves driving cross-country together to the west coast and back. Giant redwood trees and September snow in Yellowstone set the scene for romance, and the couple bonded over campfire-cooked tofu scramble.
