Portland-based independent publisher, Microcosm Publishing has taken to Kickstarter to raise money for the release of This Ain’t No Picnic: Your Punk Rock Vegan Cookbook, a 192-page, full-color collection of 80 original recipes created by punk musician Joshua Ploeg. “[This] is the first cookbook featuring creative and delicious recipes that match the quality and presentation of a five star restaurant with the self-parody and humor of punk rock culture and history,” writes Microcosm on its Kickstarter page. The publishing house is looking to raise $3,000 by November 25; the money will go toward printing the book in a worker-owned print shop in Illinois. Donors who contribute $30 or more will get a copy of the finished book plus a copy of Ploeg’s previous cookbook Fire & Ice, while those who donate $50 or more will get five copies of This Ain’t No Picnic.
