Prime Minister of Israel, Binyamin Netanyahu, and his wife Sara recently announced that they will take part in Meatless Mondays, reports The Jerusalem Post. According to the news source, Netanyahu’s decision was influenced by Israeli television personality Miki Haimovich, who informed the politician about the environmental detriments of the animal agriculture industry. Netanyahu also cites animal welfare as one of the reasons why he and his wife will engage in the vegetarian campaign. “With my responsibility as prime minister to protect the lives of people here, I feel committed to increase awareness to fight cruelty toward animals,” he told The Post.
