Actress Ellen Pompeo—known for her lead role as a medical doctor on series Grey’s Anatomy—recently adopted a plant-based diet. The actress made the decision after visiting her doctor Kristi Funk, MD for an annual breast-cancer screening. Funk authored the book Breasts: The Owner’s Manual and advocates to her clients—who include actress Angelina Jolie and singer Sheryl Crow—the disease-preventing benefits of a plant-based diet. Pompeo took Funk’s advice to remove animal products from her diet and those of her husband and three children. “[Dr. Funk] told me she turned her three kids completely vegan,” Pompeo told People, “and I came home from my appointment with her where she basically gave me [the information] and I said, ‘That’s it, we’re all vegan.’” Pompeo revealed that her family has found adopting a plant-based diet easier than eating meat and stated, “I think we all feel better.”
